This is my first personal project using Unreal Engine 4.
I decided to give myself a week to see what I could achieve so approached this project by focusing on layout, lighting and rendering, sourcing all the assets from #Megascan and #Epics Marketplace.
It therefore seemed appropriate to do a forest setting. The only part that I created myself was the path in#Maya3d and I built a blend material for it in Unreal. Also I decided to apply the DOF and crop factor in#Nukewhich provided a higher quality output, with more control.
On the whole I'm pretty happy with it but there are definitely aspects to Unreal that I'm still working out - rendering, for example, has a lot of limitation coming from a VFX background, but then it is a games engine where to emphases is maybe not on VFX quality cinematics (yet).
Would love to hear your thoughts. Any comments welcome.
I should also say that I found Wiktor Öhman tutorial - Create a Forest in UE4 in 1 Hour - on youtube very useful to get me started.
